It was bound to happen...

This past Wednesday was my birthday...the big one...30!!! I think it's caught up with me that I've been telling Jeremy for the past 3 years, since he turned 30, that he's "getting old"...well now...I am too!! I'm not so sure that it's 30 that bothers me as much as it is knowing that the next big birthday is 40!!! What in the world??!!!

What did we do to celebrate my big milestone, hmmm, not exactly what anyone would want to do on there birthday or any day for that matter. We spent the afternoon in the emergency room with Ethan while he got stitches. Ugh!!! My baby busted his eye on the bottom of a slide and boy did he have a deep gash!! So...I called Jeremy at work and he met us at the pediatrician's office. We wanted to see if he need stitches for sure or if they could glue it back. The answer was that he needed stitches, SO off to the ER. The ER that we went to had a children's ER. This was VERY HELPFUL!! The people there knew how to work with kids and were very good and patient with Ethan as we were getting checked in. He got to ride in a wagon back to his room...very cool... and while we waited for his pain medicine and his "goofy" medicine, Versed, to kick in, we got to sit back and watch the movie Shrek. Finally, we had us a medicated, silly little boy and the doc came in to do the stitches. Ethan was in la la land and I've got to say that Jeremy and I were cracking up at him. 8 stitches later, we were on our way back home. The medicine effected Ethan in a way that was funny at first, but after a while when we were home and it still had not worn off...that was another story. We couldn't let him down because he couldn't walk. He was staggering all over the place and very likely to crash again so we had to contain him. Trying to contain a 2 1/2 year old that is medicated and VERY determined that he was not going to sit with your or rest with you or watch a movie with you or ANYTHING... is VERY difficult. After about 3 hours of fighting with him, he finally gave in and went to sleep. I put him in the pack-n-play in our room b/c I was afraid he would try to climb out of his bed and crash. We were very thankful that he slept well after he finally got to sleep. We were all COMPLETELY EXHAUSTED. Here's a picture the morning after of our little buddy. He's doing great now, he'll just tell us everyone once in a while that his eye hurts. Guess I'll never forget how I spent my 30th birthday :) A montage of our big boy...

Oh Kimberly! I hate hearing that and seeing that gash on his eyebrow. Poor thing. While reading your story, I could just see you and Jeremy laughing at him. Hee-hee! I wish I could have been there. I miss you! Be on the look-out for your belated gift.
