These past few weeks have been the start to a VERY BUSY summer for us. As we mentioned in the last blog entry, we are building a house. Contracting it ourselves will save us a lot of money, but there is a lot of work involved. We are so thankful for the timing of this and how God has blessed us so much in this process. When we look back over this past year, we're blown away at how He has worked out every little detail in making this happen for us. When we first started pondering and praying about the idea of moving out here from Newnan, it was hard to process. We loved living in Newnan and really didn't think we'd ever leave, but we were feeling drawn to move to Loganville to live near family. God quickly made things happen for us. We sold our house at our asking price, Jeremy got a new job within 3 weeks of our first mention of moving, and we were given the opportunity to rent from my parents in there new rental house...that JUST came availible at the time we were talking about all this. When we talked about moving, my parents offered to give us land to build on. Since then my dad got his loader/bobcat, which is what has allowed us to save ~ $10,000 in the process of starting the house. So far, Jeremy and my dad have cleared our land, graded it and dug out the basement with the loader. This past week we hired out our first contractor to pour some concrete footings and walls in our basement. Today, seven concrete trucks came in to do job. All this to say that we are so excited of this process and are so thankful for all that God has blessed us with. There's nothing like being where you are supposed to be. If we had any doubts about it, God has made it crystal clear over this past year.
Below are some catch up pictures of our progress...and of course some pretty cute pictures of Ethan.
These first two pictures are of a guy that we hired to come out and bring his portable saw mill and cut our Pine Trees and make some lumber. Our fire place mantle was cut out of this along with hundreds of boards to make a fence. The wood has to cure for a few months and then we'll treat it before it can be used.

The basement all dug out and the footings poured

Today we had seven concrete trucks make their way through our wooded drive to pour our basement walls

In the midst of our big project...we still do our daily tasks...PLAYING. Here are some new pictures of Ethan.
The other night when we got in, we had a few new plants that needed a quick drink of water. As we were taking care of some yard matters, Ethan decided he wanted to play in the water.
Memorial Day weekend, we went to the mountains with my parents. From there, we went up to North Carolina to visit my aunt and uncle. Ethan had a great time exploring a new yard with lots of fun things to get into.

Congratulations! What an exciting summer! We look forward to watching your progress on the new house. Ethan is such a cutie pie and quite a poser for his pictures.
I can't believe how much you already have done. I know it probably feels like you have been talking about this forever...can you believe it is starting to become reality?? Happy Building!!
That was cool, seeing Ethan running around doing things. I still need to meet him sometime.
With your new house, you should wire it for a network with Cat5-6 ethernet along side of the telephone and coax. It will make future sellability better. Most installers like that just run Cat5 for voice and data. Cat5 gives better voice transmission than non-twisted pair phone line.
Looks like everything is coming along great. I love the pictures of Ethan he is so big and just so cute. Hope to see you guys soon.
