Paradise Vacation to Sick Baby Blues

We spent Jeremy's spring break on vacation in the Florida Keys with our friends Gerald and Tammy and their two boys Miles and Gavin. We stayed in a condo on the island of Marathon, the third island down of the five islands. It was SOOOOO beautiful there!! We had great weather and enjoyed some pool and beach time. This was Ethan's 2nd trip to the beach, but the first one that he could play in the sand and really have fun. Sorry for the overload of pictures, but when you have a digital camera and a baby that likes to play in the sand, you come home realizing that you took over 300 pictures so that makes it a little hard to narrow down which ones to share. We had a great vacation but we were glad to return home last Saturday afternoon after being gone for nine days.
After returning home from a nine day vacation, everything is in disarray, from dirty laundry, to no grocery's in the house, to just trying to get back into routine. After coming home from church Easter Sunday, Ethan started acting a little fussy and wouldn't eat his lunch...just not acting like his normal self. After taking two really long naps, he woke up from one feeling warm. Running a fever Sunday night and Monday morning with no other symptoms, I really didn't think it was more than him just teething. I was out Monday running some errands and Ethan was just fussy and he had started shivering, which I've never seem him do before. I battled in my head about what to do and I just decided to take him on to the doctor and I guessed I'd just be one of those overprotective mom's that can't handle her kid having a fever with teething and I'd have the doctor tell me he was fine. Come to find out...Ethan has the FLU!!! He has the flu and a double ear infection!! What in the world!! Our little boy is so sick!! He's been running fever's up to 105.3 There is nothing worse than having your little baby lying in your arms, lifeless, and burning up. He's taking some medicine that will hopefully shorten the duration of the flu, but she said to expect him to be sick for a good five days. So, if you think about Ethan, please pray for a quick recovery and that his fever might stay down.
Thanks for checking in and I hope you enjoy our vacation photos.

All of us packed into Gerald and Tammy's van like Sardines. Tammy, Gavin(in the infant car seat) and myself in the back, Ethan and Miles in the middle and Gerald and Jeremy in the front. We traveled together from Fort Myers, where they live, to the Keys. About 4.5 hours.

We ate some serious seafood and enjoyed the day walking around checking out all the shops. This was the "Southernmost Point of the US", had to get a picture.

We had to capture a picture of the famous "Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville" Here we are, eating some great Seafood at this restaurant called Turtle something, I can't remember, but it was awesome!!
Ethan had to give it up and catch some zzzzzzzzz's

We went over to my mom and dad's after church to celebrate Easter with some good cooking. Jeremy's mom also came to be with us. After such big lunch, we attempted a little Easter egg hunt with Ethan, but this was about the time that he started showing signs of not feeling well. He did have a little fun just picking up and throwing the eggs. I think we are still a year early with him for the egg hunt.

Looks like all of you had a fantastic vacation...the pictures are beautiful!! I will be praying for Ethan to get well very soon!! I remember when Alyson had salmanella when she was 3 --- she was so pitiful...she also ran a high fever and was listless...it just breaks your heart - I did a lot of praying and she recovered just fine. Ethan will too!!

Thanks for keeping your friends and family updated...I LOVE seeing your pictures!! Love -- Von

Is that Gerald Malloy? When you first started talking about him and Tammy, I thought, "Hmm. The Gerald that I worked with at QuestCamp had a girlfriend named Tammy, I think. He was always thinking about how to propose to her." Anyways, I saw the picture, and I'm pretty sure that's him. He led some worship at QuestCamp the summer that I worked there. Huh, small world. I actually have him singing on a CD. It was one that I definitely didn't leave in New Orleans.
