Who knew there were 24 hours in a day?

So just about 3 days ago a "day" consisted of about 14 hours. In these "days" I frequently slept, ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at the accepted times, went to work and did activities of that nature. Now...not so much. I have now learned that a day actually has 24 usable hours in it which are conveniently segmented into about eight three hour mini-days. And this means that there is not really a difference between day time and night time anymore. If you have an opportunity to complete a task...do it now! Now I nap, rather than sleep. Sometimes I eat, but not at the customary times. And I've found that I work more, but not at work. It's definitely different than just 3 days ago. Now, instead of being pleasantly surprised by finding extra time in a day to go outside and play with my dog, canoe on my lake, or hang out with my wife; I am surprised by extraordinary poopy diapers or cries for food. And I do stress extraordinary! But, the funny thing is that as I sit here and take the 5 minutes I've stolen from this 3 hour mini-day, I wouldn't go back to just three days ago. Because the best surprises are when I hear that sweet little high-pitched voice let out a cry, and I run over to him to find a little round face and big blue eyes searching the air around him, I get to pick him up and hold him close to me as he falls back to sleep in my arms. Nothing, my friends, gets better than that.

Jeremy, that is great encouragement for those of us who do not have children yet but who get to watch their friends barely sleep. It's good to know that the hard work is well worth it! He is absolutely beautiful!
